Typhoon Frank Anniversary.

Exactly two days ago, June 21, 2009 was the first year anniversary of Typhoon Frank that hit Iloilo City and its neighboring towns . For the first time in 75 years, Iloilo City was under water , mudflow( 4 to 6 feet high) from the mountains of Aklan and Calinog found its way in the city and other parts of Panay island. VW cars were not spared from his wrath. See for yourselves.

I just can't understand why is it when I invite people with VW beetle to join our group, they always say "Law -ay Bao ko" (my beetle is ugly) . Hey guys...wake up! no matter how old,rotten, newly painted, customized, etc..etc.....your beetle is, its soul is still the same . In the eyes of a VW lover, all VW cars are equeal. Even people who don't have a bug are welcome to join.

Sabado night! VW Night!

Saturday night is VW Night at our usual Tambayan the VW Park , Boardwalk, Iloilo City. Our original tambayan was occupied....May "Battle of the Bands" or shall we say battle of the noise. So we just settled right beside the usual venue with matching water falls and ice cold beer. The group discussed plans for the upcomming 2nd anniversary celebration come July 4, 2009. How we started.

One lazy afternoon, i recieved a text message from Mr Lyndon Cuarda inviting me to attend a meeting of Volkwagen enthisuasts here in Iloilo. Since i am a VW fan and I own a 1968 VW Baywindow Van (Kombi), i did not hesitate to attend the said meeting. That was July 7, 2007 7pm, B Place , Boardwalk Iloilo City. When I got there, I saw some familiar faces like Timmy Salazar, Pewee Aguirre and two other unfamilar faces. I was late then because I have to send my wife home or else ....anyway we ordered beer and some "pulutan" while discussing plans for the creation of VWCP (Volkswagen Club of the Philippines) Iloilo Chapter. After all the preparations, meetings, drinking, VWCP Iloilo Chapter was Born.
